Measuring productivity was a difficult task for me in the past. However I have come to learn that productivity involves setting and objective, knowing the key tasks to achieving it and getting it done within needed timeframe.
We are giving a coupon to everyone woman reading but for now, let’s focus on the list.
Have a time bound to-do list
We have shorter attention spans (I mean… there is just so much to do in so little time, just one hour of the little black book YouTube series and 30 minutes is gone), we tend to get overwhelmed and distracted. The only way to track productivity is set time frames for individual task and work within it. Always map out based on priority and urgency. That way, you can easily time yourself on tasks, cross them off your list and feel like the rock star you are. A good hack is to turn off message notification on your mobile during task. The system of having a time-bound to-do list ordered with urgency and importance has helped me personally improve my productivity in the past month. So go make that list queens.
Have a routine
Having a routine helps you optimize your performance and productivity levels. It also gives you a clear idea of what you’re supposed to do at what time and what your day involves. So take time today to define what activity your typical day involves. When settling into a new routine, know it takes some getting used to, persevere and the results would please you.
Know when to say no
Sometimes, it can seem exhausting when we keep getting more and more tasks on the already overwhelming tasks we have. If you mainly work with clients, it’s best to know what project you’re willing to take on and still be productive. And if you have a full time job, saying yes to every to every open task doesn’t make you a top performer, you will be measured based on your OKRs. So don’t be counter productive, 8/8 is better than 8/10 any day.
Set achievable timeframes
Yes while setting timeframe is key, it even more important to be realistic about how long each tsk on your list would take. It is very easy to underestimate the steps involved in achieving a particular task on your to-do-list. This happen a lot of times, so it is best to thing through all the dependable involves and my rule of thumb is the more the individuals needed to get something done, the higher the chance it would take a while to achieve.
Take breaks in-between
Rest! body no be machine. If you’re entitled to an hour break, you can spread your breaks into two or four places. That’s a 30 minutes break twice or a 15 minutes break 4 times. It’s best to take breaks when you feel overwhelmed so you can feel refreshed.
